This project aims to mitigate climate change, maintain biodiversity and empower local communities by restoring and protecting forests on carbon-rich peat swamps in the 309,000 hectare Mawas area in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Moreover, the project's objective is to create a collaborative partnership model that will establish and test a novel, sustainable finance approach for community-led forest management by utilizing carbon credit payments.
